Large wall sconces – Sconces have been part of life since the middle ages, when they were used to light the hidden recesses of caves and castles. Flashlights, mounted in the walls of the castle and caves, used to facilitate large areas and light were fixed on the pieces of wood or metal and placed on the walls of small areas. Today we have the luxury to choose whether we want sconces holding candles or light bulbs use and electricity, but if they are installed in the right place, they can be ugly, no matter how much you paid for them.
Generally, you should install large wall sconces not less than 5 meters to five and half meters from the floor. There are exceptions to this rule, of course. At a very high wall, you might want to go a little higher to complete a work of art or to create a balance, or if you want to install sconces on a wall with stairs.

What you should avoid is placing a mound where the average person looks bulb, which destroys the soft appearance of large wall sconces, will create. When in doubt, measure the wall to find the center point and hang mound where, as long as it is not less than 5 meters from the floor. While it used to be a rule of thumb to install sconces in pairs, it is not the case anymore. A single sconce can be very dramatic, and give light to an area that does not allow a ceiling or a floor lamp.
